The Edtech unicorn unacademy has acquired Handa ka Funda, a Jaipur based online coaching platform for various competitive exams.
The Edtech major has onboarded Ravi Handa, a prominent educator for CAT and other MBA exams, on its platform with the acquisition.
Founded by Ravi Handa, an IIT alumnus, Kharagpur, Handa ka Funda is an online coaching platform for exams like CAT, XAT, IIFT, SNAP, etc and for various banks exams like SBI and IBPS PO. The platform helps students to prepare and crack the exams with video tutorials, live classes, solved examples, and a vast question database.
Handa ka Funda commenced teaching online in 2012, and the platform claims that more than 20,000 students have used its online courses to date from over 50 cities in India.
While there was no official declaration by any of the companies on the latest development. Handa took to his official Twitter handle on March 23 and announced it on Twitter. He further tweeted, saying that he will be doing live sessions to discuss the change and what it means for the students and CAT aspirants and aims at reaching at least 1 lakh students via the free content. He also said that the students would also have the option to subscribe to unacademy plus courses.
Moreover, Handa Ka Funda’s acquisition will strengthen unacademy’s leadership in the MBA’s test preparation market.
Unacademy has been on an acquisition spree. The latest is the company’s 8th acquisition in the past 12 months. Just one month back, the Ed Tech major has acquired a majority stake in Tapchief, professional networking, and future-of-work platform. CodeChef in June, Chandigarh-based medical prep platform PrepLadder, and a majority stake in Mastree a K-12 learning platform, through strategic investment of $5 million in July. UPSC test prep platform Coursavy in September and Neostencil in December.
