BSc Chemistry is an undergraduate program which could be applied only after completing 12th from science stream. It’s a three years degree program which include different courses of Chemistry. BSc Chemistry, is a degree program that pacts with various parts of Chemistry counting organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and many such. Later after finishing graduation in B.Sc. Chemistry from any of the top graduation institutions in India, one can get a decent occupation or a career profile with an average salary package of INR 5-6 Lakhs annually. Here the eligibility criteria includes that the concerned applicants essentially have science focusing on the subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths, or Biology as their main subjects from any recognized board.

Both Merit basis and entrance-based admission are available depending on the institutions that are providing the course. Most of the Universities including Central or states universities provides this degree program. Even there are some UGC recognised private universities are available as well that offer this course program. Some of the well-recognised universities includes Dibrugarh University, Kaziranga Univeristy, St. Xavier, Don Bosco, Guwahati Univresity, Delhi University, Calcutta University, Royal Global University, Christ University, Tezpur University and Punjab National University, and so on. Some of the entrance exams are BHU CET, NPAT, PU CET, and so on.

Let’s get into some quick facts and necessary points regarding the course:

  • B Sc. Chemistry is a Batchelors degree program of 3 years.
  • Only after completing HS from Science Stream, one can apply for BSc Chemistry.
  • Subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, and Maths should be their main subject in 12th to become eligible for the courses.
  • This course is divided into six semesters with semester examinations after every six months. In a few universities, it is also based on the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS).
  • The admission process for BSc Chemistry is same as the other BSc Admission 2022. There might be some changes, as every university has their some different ways and process.
  • B. Sc. Chemistry syllabus include Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry.

Don’t you question yourself, Why B. Sc. Chemistry?

So here is the answer, this three years program, B. Sc. Chemistry not just only about Chemistry but also include other subjects like Physics, Maths, and Biology over separate Subjects or integrated subjects.

As during H.S. candidates doesn’t learn or understanding of all the basic concepts in-depth, hence in B. Sc. The knowledge of those topics is taught in the manner to understand all the new dimensions of chemistry as well. It will also offer them to study in detail about the connection of chemistry and additional subjects through topics like Biochemistry, Earth Science, Industrial Science, and Pharmacology, and many more.

Here, Let’s look through the Admission Procedure:

To get admitted into BSc Chemistry is based on two ways:

  • Merit-based Admission
  • Entrance Based Admission

Merit-Based Admission: In this process, institutes generate a merit list for their course, and the merit list is based on the 12th mark scored by the students. Interested candidates need to cross the cut-off marks decided by the institutions.

Entrance Based Admission: This is the other process of providing admission for BSc Chemistry, where applicants need to first fill-up the entrance and then must seat in the entrance exam organised by the respective institute. Then according to the entrance exam results, the students can apply for the further admission procedure.

Admission Eligibility Criteria for B.Sc. Chemistry in India:

The admission to the BSc Chemistry program is done in two ways: Firstly, through Entrance Exam organised by Institutions before providing admission and secondly, based on the merit list generated by the institution based on the 12th marks of the candidates. Marks calculated based on the marks scored in the best four subjects of 12th including Chemistry as the main subject.

So, the eligibility criteria include that:

  • Candidates must have at least 55% marks in aggregate in 12th to become eligible to apply for the course.
  • Candidate must be from science background
  • There are marks relaxation for OBC, SC and ST applicants
