Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the cancellation of the CBSE class XII board exams on June 1. CISCE and State Board followed suit. However, JEE Mains 2021 aspirants are still waiting for an update of the April and May sessions which were postponed due to the upsurge of the COVID-19 cases.
The decision regarding the remaining two sessions of JEE, Mains (April and May) will be updated during this week. But before that, this is all you need to know about JEE, Main 2021:
JEE, Main 2021(February): The first session of the JEE Mains 2021, was held between 23-26 of February. A total of 6.61 lakh (6,61,776) students had registered for the February session this year. A total of 6 students had scored 100 percentile in the February session.
JEE, Main 2021(March): The second session was conducted from March 15-18. A total of 6.19 lakh (6,19,638) candidates had registered for the March session. In this session, 13 candidates had scored 100 percentile.
JEE, Main 2021(April): Due to the spike of the COVID-19 cases, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had decided to reschedule the examination (JEE, Main (April) 2021), the admit cards were to be released soon but is put on hold due to the surge in numbers of COVID-19.
“Observing the present situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and also taking into account of the health and wellbeing of the candidates and the examination functionaries, it has been decided to postpone the JEE, Main 2021 April session,” read the official statement by the NTA. The revised dates of the JEE, Main 2021 April session will be announced at least 15 days before the examination.
JEE, Main 2021(May): Consequently, the May session of the JEE, Main 2021, has also been postponed, and there has been no news of the dates on which the May session will be conducted.
The Ministry of Education will soon announce its decision regarding conducting of the remaining last 2 sessions of the entrance exams, JEE (Main) (April and May). And the Medical entrance exam (NEET).
According to the reports of the PTI, a review meeting is likely to be conducted soon, where it will be decided that when the remaining two editions of the engineering entrance exam (JEE Mains) can be conducted and whether the NEET-UG can be conducted on August 1. The schedule for the entrance examinations is expected to be decided soon.
